Accurate Recommendations
Self-Care takes into account the patient's age, gender, condition, symptoms, pre-existing conditions, concurrent medications and other circumstance to ensure the right active ingredient and product is recommended.
Pharmacy-Facing Application
Self-Care is a pharmacy-facing application designed to ensure the patient seeks out the pharmacy tech and pharmacist for the OTC consult.
Preserves Pharmacist Pharmacotherapy Discretion
Self-Care first recommends a list of applicable active ingredients. The pharmacist selects the most desirable active ingredient and dosage form. Self-Care then recommends the best retail product.
Exclusions to Self-Care
Once the patient's condition, symptom, age and gender are captured the application lists exclusions to self-care requiring a physician visit. If an exclusion is selected the pharmacist is given the opportunity to proceed with the OTC consult or stop and refer the patient to his or her physician.
Interaction / Contraindication Alert System & Explanations
Self-Care flags all concurrent drug interactions and pre-existing condition contraindications. The pop-up explanation provides further pharmacist insight.
Dosage Form Selection
The pharmacist may select one or more dosage forms (tablet, capsule, topical ointment, etc.) he or she considers most suitable.
Age Sensitive
Self-Care considers the age of the patient and pays particular attention to very young patients and patients of advanced age.
Pregnant / Breast Feeding
If the patient is a female between the ages of 12 and 59 Self-Care first determines whether that patient is pregnant or breast-feeding. If so, Self-Care considers all known teratogenic effects, determines the contraindication severity associated with each active ingredient and provides the pharmacist with a detailed pop-up explanation.
Printable Results Page
Self-Care generates a printed piece identifying each medication recommended by the pharmacist as well as each medication's active ingredient strength and purpose.
Integration (Patient Rx and POS)
Self-Care can run in a stand-alone mode or integrated with the retailer's POS dbase and patient Rx dbase.
SaaS Delivery
Self-Care is licensed on a subscription basis and accessed via a web portal. Self-Care is compatible with all major browsers including Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox and Chrome.
